Pekin Days Art Show

Our History

Pekin Days Art Show committee was formed in 1993. After repeated successful art exhibitions during the annual Pekin Days celebration and a growing interest from Nelson County residents, the committee applied for and received a 501c3 non-profit status under the name of Nelson County Arts Council in 1999.

Nelson County Arts Council received North Dakota Governor’s Award in 2001 and the Leadership Award in 2005.

Today the Nelson County Arts Council produces one of the largest judged art show and sales in North Dakota, displaying artists’ work from North Dakota and the surrounding U.S. to Canada, bringing in collectors from all over the U.S. We also host a Student Art Show representing high school students’ artwork from Dakota Prairie, Devils Lake, Fort Totten, Griggs County Central, Hatton, Lakota, Larimore, Minnewaukan, Warwick, Independent Study Students and many more. The annual Stump Lake Fine Arts Youth Camp for grades 3-12 enrolls many children each summer, with each camp session conducted by regional artists. NCAC hosts the One Act Dinner Theater for area high schools to participate in and our Community Theater program is vibrant as well, with sold out performances each night.

There are other fun events throughout the year! Follow us on facebook to keep up to date with the most current happenings.

None of this would be possible without a team of people who are passionate about keeping the arts vibrant in Nelson County. We can use your help! If you’d like to volunteer or even join the board, please contact us at ncac@gondtc.com, or reach out to a current board member!
