Our mission is to ensure the presentation and preservation of the arts throughout Nelson County and the extending area by presenting programs and events that will enlighten, instruct, and entertain our citizens.
(Jon Offutt give glass blowing demonstrations in the park each year.)
Today the Nelson County Arts Council produces the largest judged art show and sales in North Dakota, displaying artists’ work from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and Canada; a Student Art Show representing high school students’ artwork from Dakota Prairie, Lakota, Larimore, Warwick and Fort Totten schools, Home Schoolers and the Stump Lake Fine Arts Youth Camp.
NCAC knows the value and importance of art in all stages of life! Therefore we give back in our “Art for Life” Program.
“Art for Life” – The Therapeutic Power & Promise of the Arts
Produced by the North Dakota Council of the Arts in the hopes of encouraging individuals, organizations, and institutions to utilize art therapy or therapeutic art activities. This complimentary publication documents a pilot program and study with elders in a long-term care facility.
